Furniture removal after renovation

After a renovation you're left with furniture that no longer suits the new interior, and with pieces that were shifted into another room or onto the balcony during the work and stayed there. They take up space at exactly the moment you want to start using the flat.

Three typical situations

The first: the item physically no longer fits. After a re-plan, the wardrobe doesn't match the new alcove, the sofa blocks a relocated doorway, the kitchen table turns out to be too big. The piece is intact, but there is no room for it in this room.

The second: furniture pushed out onto the balcony, into the basement or into the one unrenovated room during the work. A sofa that has stood on the balcony over the winter is usually no longer the same sofa, and nobody carries it back inside.

The third: the flat has to be usable quickly. A furniture delivery, a kitchen installation or a move-in date follows the renovation, and the old things are standing exactly where the space is needed.

Why care matters here

The floors are new, the walls freshly painted, the doorways still unscratched. A wardrobe or a sofa has to be carried down a narrow hallway so that nothing is left on the wall. Fresh paint takes far less than a scuffed old wall, and a new laminate floor is damaged not by carrying but by dragging.

So if an item won't go through the doorway whole, we dismantle it on the spot rather than forcing it. A dismantled piece goes out in parts you can lift and carry, rather than as a single block pressing against both door edges. That is almost always safer for the room, even when the furniture itself is no longer wanted.

The deadline is usually part of the job

After a renovation, time is rarely open-ended. There is often a queue of other work behind you — fitting skirting boards, a furniture delivery, cleaning or the move-in itself. So it's worth stating in the request form the date by which the room has to be empty, and whether one room is needed sooner than the others.

What we take and what we don't

We take furniture and bulky household items — wardrobes, sofas, beds, tables, chairs, mattresses and appliances.

We don't take construction waste. Tiles, plaster, plasterboard, old windows and door units, floor coverings and bags of renovation leftovers are a different kind of load with a different disposal procedure — that is a separate service, which we don't provide. If the flat has both, we take the furniture part, but the construction waste has to be dealt with separately.
