Furniture removal in Riga starts at €30 excluding VAT. We come out, dismantle an item when it will not otherwise fit through the door, carry it out of the flat even with no lift, load it and haul it to the landfill. We set the price from the photos you send, so you know it before we arrive and it does not change on the day.

Old furniture removal

Old furniture has no second owner. A sofa with worn upholstery, a wardrobe with broken hinges or a bed whose frame no longer holds has neither a buyer nor anyone to give it to — so it stays put: first on the balcony, then in the basement, where it sits for years, because the question was never "what do we do with it" but "how do we get it out".

There is a practical reason for the delay. You can't leave a bulky item next to a household waste bin, it won't fit in a car, and before any of that it has to be dismantled and carried down the stairs. One person can't do it. So the old sofa stays in the basement for another year.

Our job is precisely that part: we arrive, dismantle what won't fit, carry it out of the property, load it and take it away. The condition of the furniture is no obstacle — stains, a broken frame or a piece already in bits are taken just the same as an intact one.

Furniture removal and furniture disposal — what's the difference

The two words describe two different halves of the job.

• Removal is the physical work: dismantling, carrying out of the flat, loading and transport away from your address.
• Disposal is what happens next: the furniture is handed over to be destroyed, rather than dumped beside someone else's bin.

Carrying it out of the flat — the hard part of the job

The haulage itself is the easy part. The hard part is the route from the room to the van — and that is exactly where most people stop.

In older buildings the stairwells are narrow, and between floors there is a turn with nowhere to swing a long item — a sofa or a bed frame gets stuck there even when it cleared the flat door. In prefab blocks the lift is often so small that a double mattress won't fit even diagonally. A fifth floor with no lift means every single item goes down by hand.

That's why most furniture is carried by two people — not because of the weight, but because the turn can only be made while holding both ends at once. And sometimes it is faster to dismantle a piece in the room than to try to force it out whole: pushing it through ends with a scratched wall or a broken door frame.

None of this is your problem — carrying it out of the property is included in the service.

What we take — and what matters in each case

Sofas and upholstered furniture. With a sofa the deciding factor is geometry, not weight. Corner sofas almost always separate into sections along the factory joints hidden under the upholstery or the seats — we find those and detach them rather than breaking the frame. Sofa beds have a metal mechanism inside that makes them considerably heavier than they look, so it's worth noting in your request if the sofa pulls out. Sofa removal.

Beds and mattresses. A double mattress is a single solid object that can't be made smaller — either it fits through the door and the lift or it doesn't, in which case it goes down the stairs folded. A bed frame, by contrast, almost always comes apart, and that is often the only way to get it out of the bedroom. Mattress removal.

Wardrobes and shelving. Large wardrobes, especially sliding-door units, were assembled in the room and never went through the door in one piece. Tables and chairs. Here the problem is quantity, not size: six chairs, a kitchen table and a desk together mean several trips down the stairs and a significant share of the van's capacity. We usually unscrew table legs — the top then travels through the stairwell more easily and doesn't catch on the banisters.

Office furniture. In an office the volume is larger and more uniform: desks, a row of chairs, filing cabinets and partitions. What matters most here is timing — the work has to be scheduled so it doesn't disturb the rest of the building, and lift access has to be arranged. Office furniture removal.
