If furniture has to come out of shop premises, a school or an office, access and working hours are set by the person responsible for the site, not by us. In those cases, say straight away on the form whether a pass is needed and what hours the premises are available.
That is why the form asks for the floor, whether there is a lift and the type of property. In Jugla those three answers decide how many people we send and whether the piece is better dismantled in the flat.
Where furniture gets stuck most often
In the older blocks it isn't the flat door but the half-landing that decides whether a long item survives the turn. If the photos show the width at the turn is less than the item's diagonal, we plan the dismantling in advance rather than discovering it in the stairwell.
Access near Jugla lake and Brivibas gatve
Two things determine Jugla's position: Jugla lake and Brivibas gatve. The trunk road, the tram line and the start of the regional roads mean the district itself is easy to reach with a van, and approach roads are rarely a problem here. Closer to the trunk road, though, stopping outside the entrance is brief and happens next to heavy traffic — we park for as long as loading takes and carry the furniture over by hand.
Near the lake and the woods the picture is the opposite: the internal access roads are often narrow, and at some detached houses the last stretch is gravel. If you know a heavier van can't get to the door, put it in the notes — then we plan for a longer carry.
Balconies and basements — where Jugla's furniture overwinters
In an apartment building there's nowhere for old furniture to disappear to, so it migrates to the balcony or the building's basement compartment. Both change the job: from the balcony the piece first has to come back into the flat through the same narrow opening, while a mattress or sofa that has stood in a basement has often taken up moisture and comes out heavier than it went in. Mention on the form how long it has been there — it affects how many people we send.
