In Saulkrasti the enquiry often comes at the moment the owner opens up the summer house after winter and realises that the old sofa, the iron bed and a couple of mattresses have been standing there for several seasons. Nobody uses them any more, but there is nothing to take them away in. We come out on request, dismantle if an item won't come out, carry it out and haul it away.
We come out to Saulkrasti from the Riga side. We have neither premises nor a permanent point in the town.
One "Saulkrasti" address is not one place
Saulkrasti is a linear seaside town: the development is strung out along the sea and along the A1, not clustered around a single centre. That changes the practical side more than any other local factor. Two properties with the same town name can be at opposite ends of it.
So in the form we ask for the street and house number, not just "Saulkrasti". If two properties at different ends of the town have to be emptied on the same day, that too is worth saying up front — then we plan one route rather than two separate call-outs.
Summer houses, seasonal properties and damp
In coastal development a large share of properties are used seasonally — summer houses, guest accommodation and houses nobody lives in over the winter. In properties like these the furniture is often not simply old but has been stored for years in an unheated room. The practical difference is this:
A mattress that has spent the winter on an unheated veranda or in the loft comes out noticeably heavier than it looks. The same goes for upholstered furniture and the backs of wardrobes.
Prolonged cycling between damp and dry loosens screws and glued joints. A bed or wardrobe that looks intact tends to fall apart as it is carried, so it is often more sensible to dismantle it deliberately from the start.
In a seasonal property old furniture usually isn't thrown out — it is moved to the shed, the loft or the edge of the yard. So it's worth counting everything in the form, including what isn't in the living rooms.
Saulkrasti also has permanently occupied detached houses and blocks of flats, where the job follows the floor and whether there is a lift.
The season and access
Seasonality in Saulkrasti is an operational question, not a marketing one. In summer, traffic on the coastal streets and the availability of parking at properties are more difficult than out of season, and it isn't always possible to pull up close to the door. On narrow coastal streets with sandy or gravel surfaces a heavy vehicle can't be parked near the entrance at all — the furniture then has to be carried a longer stretch by hand.
Out of season access is usually freer. If the property doesn't have permanent access, say so in the form so we can agree a time when somebody can open up.
What we remove
We remove furniture from homes and guest accommodation in any condition — including mouldy, damp and broken. The most common jobs are mattress removal and sofa removal, as well as beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs. If an item won't come through the door whole, we do dismantling and removal. The full list is in the services section.

In Saulkrasti the price is influenced most by the volume and by how close to the entrance the van can be parked. At a seasonally used property it also matters whether all the furniture is in one building or scattered across the shed, the loft and the yard. Full price list →

Frequently asked questions
Yes. A seasonally used property is one of the most common types of job here. Bear in mind that furniture that has stood in an unheated room is heavier and has looser joints, so we often carry it out in parts. List in the form what is in the shed or the loft as well.
Because the town's development is strung out along the sea and along the A1. Two addresses with the same town name can be at different ends of the town, and that changes the route planning. With the street and house number we can plan the job properly before coming out.
It mainly affects access. In summer the coastal streets have heavier traffic and less room to park at the entrance, so the carry tends to be longer. Out of season access is usually freer.
Somebody has to open the property and show which furniture is going — that can be a neighbour, a relative or the property manager. Say in the form who will be there and how to arrange the time with them.
Yes. In coastal and unheated rooms that is an ordinary condition and it is no obstacle in our work. The only difference is that furniture like this is heavier and more often has to be dismantled to get it out at all.
